About Us

We’re passionate about so many things! Antique wooden boats, classic cars, awesome guitars – the list goes on and on! We’ve learned as we’ve gotten older that you can’t own all of the guitars that you would like; you can’t own all of the Corvettes that you would like – especially if you want to stay married… But, you CAN own some choice pieces of art that help you stay connected with and even expand upon your passions. The best news is that if you play your cards right, your wife or significant other will even enjoy being a part of the process of selecting these treasures! Have an office, a home study, a man-cave? You’ve come to the right place to find unique, rare, collectible art to celebrate your passion for some of America’s most iconic products.

Our firms’ roots begin in 1933.  Over the past 77 years we’ve been involved in a lot of projects with a lot of interesting customers. Several years ago the Engineering Department at a guitar manufacturer who is a corporate neighbor, came over with some original design development art from their flat files, which they wanted us to scan. The art was from the 1950’s, hand drawn with pastel and pencil – it was awesome! You could see not only the original sketch, but notes and little extemporaneous sketches around it clearly indicating how the design process unfolded in meetings between Engineering, Production and Marketing. Interestingly this clever tremolo tailpiece design did appear in production around 1960. Fortunately, I happened to be present when this chance meeting occurred between our companies. Being the guitar nut that I am, I thought, “Wow, collectors and enthusiasts would love to see and own renditions of these amazing, artistic, design sketches.”

Since then we’ve been sharing our passion for bringing these treasures to market, with various brand owners of some of America’s most celebrated products. We were able to share our vision for design development, concept, and engineering art with General Motors. They immediately knew we were on track to invent a whole new category of official licensed product. We’ve joined forces to bring collectors and enthusiasts access to authentic, limited edition, reproductions of select pieces from their amazing archive. General Motors’ vehicles have established milestones in design for more than 100 years and have stoked the dreams and passions of untold thousands for generations. It’s amazing to witness the creative journey expressed through the sketches and renderings that ultimately brought a design to market.

We formed Route427.com to provide a means for us to reach others who are passionate about GM history, products and designs. GM’s portfolio of art covers all brands and models – an amazing treasure trove! Over time we will be bringing art forward that covers their full range of products, including even their Electro-Motive trains! Spread the word, check back often, and enjoy the art of American ingenuity!
