In 1963, even before production commenced on the new Corvette Sting Ray, Bill Mitchell gathered a group of his designers and tasked them with dreaming up the Sting Rays replacement. In 1964 John Schinella was one of the designers working in Chevy Studio #2. Like many of Schinella's drawings, this one includes people; here the seated driver in race helmet is getting information from another male while several people stand nearby. Interestingly, this proposal includes elements that do appear later on the XP-830 and are influences in the production design for 1968.
